Navigating

Stutts Creek has navigation aids and accommodates 6 – 7 ft draft boats.

Large boats with deep drafts, and boats approaching from the north, should access Stutts Creek via the Piankatank River and pass through the Gwynn’s Island Bridge (SR223) at Milford Haven which opens upon request (clearance is approximately 11 feet).

For navigation from the south, using the “Hole in the Wall Channel' instead of going through the Gwynn’s Island Bridge saves time. This channel is very narrow; follow markers closely.

Boats drawing more than 5ft should navigate 'Hole in the Wall' on a rising tide or consider the longer route via the Piankatank River and Gwynn’s Island Bridge. The “Hole in the Wall Channel” is expected to be dredged in 2024.
